In October, Brenda Brandon consulted with Joan Mitchell, Tribal Environmental Planner about the Air Force decision to develop a bombing range at a nearby reservation and information impact to the Chippewa Cree Tribe. Provided the Air Force contact information, and discussed development of a information letter of support for the Chippewa Cree Tribe with focus on potential impact of bombers flying over Rocky Boys on nearby natural gas wells and information potential threat to sustainable resources. In June 2001, Dr. Willis Weight and Brenda Brandon provided a short course on groundwater in tribal lands at Stone Child College. The course provided an orientation to groundwater studies, both occurrence and contamination. Principles that were discussed included flow direction, sources, chemicals of concern, areas of concern, volume, monitoring wells, sampling, analysis, and watershed-specific dynamics. |
